Your data

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 July 2026

This policy explains what Phone Interpreter collects, why, and what your rights are. The data controller is DadLink Technologies Limited (company number 16161444), trading as Phone Interpreter. The short version: we collect what we need to run an interpreting service - account details, payment records, and the calls themselves - and we do not sell your data to anyone.

1. What we collect

Account information. When you create an account: name, email address, and business name if you provide one. When you buy a plan or instant session: payment is handled by Stripe - we never see or store your full card details, only Stripe's confirmation, the amount, and a payment reference.

Calls and transcripts. Interpreting calls are processed in real time to provide the service: audio is converted to text, translated, and spoken back. Transcripts are stored - against your account for plan customers (so you can review them in your call history), or against the session code for instant sessions. Caller phone numbers, call times and durations are stored as part of the call record.

Contact messages. If you use the contact form we store your name, email, topic and message so we can reply.

Technical basics. Standard web logs and the technical information needed to operate the site and prevent abuse.

2. How calls are processed

Interpreting is performed by an AI system. To deliver it, call audio and text pass through carefully chosen infrastructure providers - telephony carriage, speech-to-text, AI language processing, and text-to-speech - acting as our processors under contract. Audio is processed to provide the live service; the stored artefact is the text transcript and call metadata described above.

3. Why we process it

Our legal bases are: performing our contract with you (running your line, delivering your session, billing); our legitimate interests in operating, securing, supporting and improving the service and in defending legal claims; and legal obligations such as tax and accounting record-keeping. Where consent is the right basis - for example optional marketing email - we ask for it separately and you can withdraw it at any time.

4. How long we keep it

Account data: for the life of the account and a reasonable period after closure. Call records and transcripts: while your account is active so your call history works, after which they are deleted or anonymised on a rolling basis. Instant session records: for our accounting period. Payment records: as required by UK tax law (currently six years). Contact messages: as long as needed to resolve the enquiry.

5. Who we share it with

Only the processors needed to run the service - payment (Stripe), email delivery, telephony and AI processing providers - each bound by contract to process data only on our instructions. Some providers process data outside the UK; where they do, transfers are protected by recognised safeguards such as the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

6. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask for access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction, and portability, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interests. Use the contact form and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk), though we would appreciate the chance to sort it out first.

7. Other people on your calls

If you put another person on an interpreted call - a customer at your counter, a caller you are helping - you are responsible for letting them know the call is interpreted by AI and transcribed. The rights in section 6 apply to them too.

8. Cookies

The site uses only the cookies and local storage needed for it to function - sign-in session state and security. No advertising trackers.

9. Changes

We will post any changes to this policy on this page, and notify account holders by email if a change is material.
